The Massachusetts Independent Film Festival was started by New England filmmakers Christopher Di Nunzio, Jason Miller, and Nolan Yee with the initial goal of showcasing films from the New England area. After our first year the festival has expanded into a worldwide event for truly independent filmmakers and writers. The festival has screened films from all over America, Australia, Iran, Italy, Japan and many other countries. Since we opened Screenplay submissions we have received screenplays from all over the world, and we were excited and proud to announce that the winner of the 2013 Best Feature Screenplay was submitted all the way from Finland!

Films featuring Denis O' Hare, Jonathan Groff, Dean Stockwell, and Illeana Douglas were presented last year, and we look forward to attracting both big and small films and screenplays. Films from veteran directors like Susan Seidelman, and previous Sundance Selections were showcased in our 2013 festival. We always continue to promote the selected films and screenplays long after the festival has ended with news postings, interviews with filmmakers and writers, and anything that helps the films and screenplays find a new audience.
