Jason Kessler's 'PITIGLIANO' 2016 Austin Film Festival Semifinalist

Jason Kessler's feature-length hostage drama 'PITIGLIANO' was a Semifinalist in the 2016 Austin Film Festival Screenplay Contest.  'PITIGLIANO' follows a young, black, Jewish woman vacationing in Italy who struggles for survival when she's taken hostage by anti-Semitic extremists in the cavernous ruins of Pitigliano's old Jewish quarter. 

 

Jason is currently earning a screenwriting MFA at UT Austin, and he previously attended Princeton University and Columbia Law School.

Jason Kessler's TV Pilot "Likes & Follows" wins 3rd place in Big Star Jason Kessler's TV Pilot won 3rd place in the 2014 Big Star Screenwriting Competition, sponsored by the Dallas Screenwriters Association.  "Likes & Follows" is a workplace comedy that follows a quirky group at a startup social media agency.  Jason Kessler's other awards include 1st place at the 2014 Las Vegas Film Festival for a feature length comedy, and a Top 10 Finalist in the 2013 Finaldraft Inc. Jason Kessler's "HIGH OFFICE" a Scriptapalooza top 10 Runner Up

Jason Kessler's feature comedy "High Office" was recognized as one of 10 Runners Up in the 2015 Scriptapalooza Screenplay Competition.  High Office is about a U.S. President who must distance himself from his daughter after she's caught smoking weed. But she's the only person who could help him when he accidentally eats one of her pot brownies. 

 

Jason is currently earning a screenwriting MFA at UT Austin, and he previously attended Princeton University and Columbia Law School.  His feature comedy "Up In Flames" won the 2014 Las Vegas Screenplay Competition, and his web series "Over Thinker" has enjoyed over 400,000 views on Youtube.

Jason Kessler's UP IN FLAMES Wins Las Vegas Film Fest Screenplay Contest

Jason Kessler's screenplay "Up In Flames" won first place in the 2014 Las Vegas Film Festival Screenplay Contest.  

 

Up In Flames is a feature comedy that follows an obliviously flamboyant boy who arrives in college to find that everyone he meets assumes he's gay.  He struggles with his identity as he tries to act "straighter" so he can get the girl of his dreams.  The script mixes off-color humor with realistic characters to tactfully approach the topic of sexual identity, challenge stereotypes, and reinforce themes of tolerance.

 

The script was previously a finalist or semifinalist in several screenplay competitions, including Nantucket Film Festival's 2014 Showtime Tony Cox Screenplay Competition, 2013 Fresh Voices, and 2013 Emerging Screenwriters.

He struggles with his identity as he tries to act "straighter" so he can get the girl of his dreams. Though it's a comedy that, as one contest judge stated, has "one of the most lowdown, wrong and super funny jokes I've read in a script in a long time," it tactfully approaches the topic of sexual identity and challenges standard stereotypes, "perfectly balancing moments of insight with moments of sheer comedy."
