Program Description

We offer a screenplay competition like no other!  

If you (screenplay submitter) attend the festival, we can provide additional feedback as an optional assessment with festival registration.

This competition is open to any screenplay submitter, ages 18 or older. Any genre will be considered, and it must be the original work of the author.
Anytime you send us your script, please register it with the Library of Congress. http://www.copyright.gov Provide a Copyright or WGA registration number (or foreign equivalent). PDF ONLY, no substitutes or new drafts will be accepted other than a separate submission and appropriate fee payment.

The intent of SciFi Miami is to showcase the best in Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, Comedy, and other imaginatively-themed films from around the world. This celebration is set in the trendy and progressively global megalopolis of Miami Florida. Our creative and inspirational environment is ideal to explore films that ponder the infinite possibilities our multiverse holds.

There will be workshops and a panel. In addition to this eight season, the Film Market is open. We have several distributors in attendance to purchase shorts and feature content.

MiSciFi 2020 was virtual and a success. The entire festival was 3-days in a virtual environment. The online attendees reached a magnitude more than previous physical events.

We are planning and preparing for a physical festival in the 1st quarter of 2021. However, if Covid-19 is not sufficiently ‘under control’ to operate safely, the festival will move to a virtual space.

Program Benefits

1st, 2nd, and 3rd, winners receive a final draft software package.

Screenplay awards include software from Final Draft and 1st, 2nd and 3rd winners plus finalists will have a page performed from their screenplay in a true staged format with costume and thematic music. We are the only festival that performs this activity, watch some of our photos and videos.

Rules

Screenplays, Teleplays, Stage Plays, Pilots, Original work, and spec scripts from 1 page to 125 pages. 

If the screenwriter wants additional analysis (Alpha or Beta level) please visit "Screenplay Monster" for additional work outside of the festival scope. 

This competition is open to 18 or older. By entering, you agree and permit the use of the winners' names and likeness for publicity and promotional actions without additional compensation. MiSciFi reserves the right to publicize and promote any and all progress, development, and success of the entered scripts. Any genre will be considered but must be original.
