Frequently Asked Questions

Wiki Screenplay Contest
Frequently Asked Questions
You have questions...we have answers!

CAN I SUBMIT MORE THAN 10 PAGES?

Yes. Submit as many pages as you like, but judging is based strictly upon the first 10 pages.

HOW CAN I GET YOU TO READ MY ENTIRE SCRIPT?

Submit your screenplay for a "full read" with Executive Level Notes & Scores...and every word on every page will be read by multiple judges.

IF I'M NOT A FINALIST, CAN YOU STILL READ MY SCRIPT?

To receive complete "a la carte" Professional Analysis, attach your script in an email to us. The fee for this service is $129, for which you will be invoiced via Paypal.

IF I WIN THE CONTEST, DO I STILL RETAIN COPYRIGHT?

Absolutely. You will retain all copyright, title, and interest in your material.

HOW DO I KNOW YOU WON'T STEAL MY IDEA OR SELL IT TO SOMEONE ELSE?

That's not the business we're in. The fact is, screenplay ideas are very rarely "stolen" by anyone. Industry professionals have plenty of great material to choose from without stealing your ideas or those of anyone else. We recommend, however, that any material submitted to any competition is registered with the WGA-W or is submitted for legal protection at the U.S. Copyright Office (USPTO.gov)

Rules

Screenplay contest material submitted to The Wiki Screenplay Contest is accepted via electronic submission only.

Submissions must be in PDF file format, the title ONLY indicated in the PDF file name (do not use quotation marks, all caps, or write "10 pages" or anything else in the file name). Submissions as Final Draft or Movie Magic Screenwriter files will not be read, scored, or judged. Simply convert your Final Draft or Screenwriter file to PDF...and then submit!

Maximum acceptable page counts: Screenplay=130. TV Script=70. Short Film Script=40. Longer scripts may be submitted as Part 1-Part 2 as individual submissions.

All prize monies will be paid to winners via Paypal only. No other payment options (check, bank transfers, money orders, etc.) are available. All prize money recipients must submit valid tax ID (W9 or W8BEN)  prior to payment posting. All payments require winner to submit signed W9 form within 30 days of contest results announcement. Prizes not claimed within 30 days will be forfeited.

Winners agree to provide a color photo headshot for publicity purposes; winners explicitly agree to the publication of their image, name, and logline of their winning script across all media at the sole discretion of The Wiki Screenplay Contest.

Submitting writers agree to hold The Wiki Screenplay Contest harmless against any and all claims of any kind with respect to publication, spelling, or capitalization of their names and understand that their names will be published in the format provided on their Film Freeway entry.

There is no limit to the number of screenplay, teleplay, or short film scripts you may submit.

Prior winning entries are accepted for analysis and scoring, but are not eligible to win in a subsequent contest period.

Submitted script material must be received by midnight of each monthly deadline date and submission fee payment must accompany your material.

All entry fees are non-refundable; submissions in any file format other than PDF will be disqualified with no refund (although we're pretty helpful in this regard and will reach out to you if your file format needs correcting)d.

There is no limitation to the number of pages submitted; writers agree that judges will be reading only the first ten script pages of any submission, and scoring based upon that reading only.

All material submitted to these screenplay contests must be original, and all rights must be wholly owned by the writer(s).

Screenplays and scripts must be submitted by the credited writer. Screenplays and scripts written by writing teams must be submitted by one of the writers, with consent of the other(s).

All writers must be credited on title page. Credit, spelling and punctuation of  writer names and script titles will be published as submitted at time of entry; no edits, additions, or changes following end of contest period.

If a screenwriting team is chosen as a winner, prizes will be given to the screenwriter submitting the project. Each team is responsible for dividing or sharing the prize money, with no direction from The Wiki Screenplay Contest administrators, staff, or judges.

Once submitted, material is promptly assigned to analysts and judges and reading/scoring begins. Revisions, rewrites, addenda, or substitutions of either corrected pages or new drafts of the entered screenplay or script material require a separate entry.

Multiple entries are accepted. Submitting the same script pages for different levels of analysis is fine. In all cases, each entry or request for varying levels of analysis must be entered individually. When multiple levels of analysis are NOT entered individually, only the highest level of analysis will be provided with no refunds for other analysis services.

By using our service, you authorize us to use any trusted third-party online and cloud-based services and databases for hosting, managing and/or transmitting your submission file(s), including Film Freeway and/or Coverfly.

All copyright, ownership and derivative rights to the material submitted to The Wiki Screenplay Contest remains with the original rights holders and/or author.

By submitting material to the contest, writer gives contest administrators permission to promote the work and the writer to third parties, including professional literary managers and agents at their sole discretion. By submitting material to the contest, you agree to hold The Wiki Screenplay Contest LLC, its officers, managers, employees, contractors, and representatives of all kinds harmless against any and all claims, including typographical errors, misspellings, or any other errors of publication on this website or in any social media, email, or other marketing publication. No assurances, warranties, or guarantees are either implicitly or explicitly made as to the efforts or lack of response by any and all third parties to whom The Wiki Screenplay Contest LLC may send or transmit material.

Winning entries are ineligible for future contest submissions.

Plagiarized or non-original written materials will be disqualified.

All screenplay, television script, or short film script material must be submitted electronically as a PDF digital file.

No assurances or guarantees are made with respect to contest scores, reader-analyst/judges' opinions, comments, suggestions, or assessments of submitted material. No refunds are provided at any time for disagreements with reader-analyst-judges' comments or scores, which are provided subjectively based upon objective criteria.

All scores are final and purely at the discretion of the Senior Judging Panel.
Writer acknowledges that any and all written feedback and analysis commentary is objectively presented and intended to be illustrative, instructive, and helpful in guiding the writer along a professional path.  Scores and comments are in accordance with current professional film and television industry standards, but writer accepts them as purely subjective pursuant to the judgment and opinion of the individual reader-analyst and agrees not to request, demand, or suggest alternate, different, or revised written feedback; no guarantees of satisfaction on the part of the writer are expressed or implied.
