As a writer, I like to use my stories to explore strong themes in unique, layered worlds. I love to create the texture of an environment, and center my stories around a single character who is the embodiment of a fundamental human desire or flaw. I tend to write with a dark wit and strong sense of irony, and I truly enjoy writing for an ensemble of diverse characters. Some series that match my style of writing (and which I would be absolutely honored to work on) are: Fargo, Barry, Claws, Succession, Mindhunter, What We Do in the Shadows, and You, among others.
Here is a short bio about me:
Sonali Mehta holds an MA with honors in Screenwriting from MetFilm School in London, UK. While there, she wrote three festival-placing short films, and developed a TV pilot that attracted Hillbilly Films, and is in talks with MetFilm Productions. She also worked extensively with Big Light Productions (as a reader and script editor) and Yellow Bird. Her script Fifty Thousand is a quarterfinalist in the WeScreenplay television pilot competition as well as the Writers Assistants Network script competition. Currently, Sonali works with Pocket Gems as a narrative Story Editor on their popular storytelling game Episode, and she has written a game of her own for Games2Win. Sonali was recently a Writers Assistant in the room on an Indian-American sitcom being developed by Break The Room and Paul Feig's digital content company, Powderkeg. She is also currently the assistant to a showrunner with an overall deal at Lionsgate.
