Biography

Birgit, a first-generation American whose name is pronounced BEERgit saRAN MYerd, draws inspiration for her writing from her heritage, aspects of her former work as a CIA biographical analyst, experiences gained living over half her life on four continents, and her faith. Now available to stream on Amazon and Amazon.uk, ELLIDA, Birgit's adaptation, from her own translation of Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen's The Lady from the Sea, garnered over sixty US and international film festival nominations and awards. A WOMAN'S HAND, a faith-based action/adventure script, received Movieguide's Kairos Prize for Spiritually Uplifting Screenplays under its former title HAND OF A WOMAN. It is an adaptation of the story of Jael, who despite having a hand in one of the most gruesome deaths in the Book of Judges is the only woman other than the Virgin Mary to be called "blessed above all women" in Holy Scripture. Currently, Birgit is writing GENTLEMEN OF THE GRIDIRON, a biopic on Walter Camp, dubbed the "Father of American Football" by his peers for his innovations, which transformed rugby into the uniquely American game watched by approximately 160 million viewers worldwide on Superbowl Sunday.
