After cutting her teeth on the actress/waitress circuit, Casey transitioned to screenwriting, optioning a feature script about a group of waitresses who form a Mötley Crüe cover band. Her original pilot, LEGS, about a strip club in Texas, made the first cut in Sundance’s Episodic Lab in 2014, but didn’t advance past that. She spent the next five years writing for OWN’s hit series GREENLEAF, which won an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Drama Series in 2020. She has also been a producer on OWN’s drama DELILAH, and worked on Hulu’s adaptation of LESS THAN ZERO. In 2024 she was a writer/producer on ABC's HIGH POTENTIAL. Born in South Texas on the Gulf of Mexico with a yearning for danger, Casey’s had her mind blown two times, had an ear chopped off, been inaugurated into the Dead Dad’s Club, fist-fought Kiefer Sutherland, crashed a motorcycle and been to jail thrice!
