Christopher Sirmons Haviland, also published as C.S. Haviland, has a Bachelor's degree in Radio / TV / Film from the University of North Texas. 

His spec screenplays include Code & Creation (Science Fiction allegory, aka Code & Chemistry), Embracing the Sunrise (True Crime Drama, aka Harmless) [currently under option], Phantasmagorium (Horror) [currently under option], Parental Control (Comedy), The Tree (Fantasy, aka Faith & Fairies) [based on his novel, Faith & Fairies], and Fang Hunters (Horror Comedy) [under option].

Mr. Haviland's work won Best Feature Screenplay in the Genre Celebration Festival in Tokyo and Award of Excellence in the Vegas Movie Awards (Best Drama/Thriller Screenplay); achieved Finalist in the Other Worlds Austin SciFi Screenwriting Contest, the People's Picture Show contest, the Emerging Screenwriters Genre Screenplay Contest, and the AAA Screenplay Contest (from Creative Screenwriting Magazine); achieved Semi-Finalist in the Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting (from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences), the Chesterfield Writer's Film Project (from Amblin' Entertainment and Universal Pictures), and the Maui Writers Conference National Screenwriting Competition; and achieved Quarter-Finalist in Screenwriting Expo (from Creative Screenwriting Magazine), the American Zoetrope Screenplay contest, the New Century Writer Awards, and the ScreenCraft Comedy Screenlay Contest. 

Mr. Haviland wrote a fantasy novel called Faith & Fairies (www.FaithAndFairies.com), and a book of actual story submissions called The Synopsis Treasury which features never-before-seen work by H.G. Wells, Jack Williamson, Andre Norton, Robert A. Heinlein, James Gunn, Frank Herbert, Ben Bova, Piers Anthony, Michael Bishop, Joe Haldeman, Terry Brooks, and many others.

In 1997, Mr. Haviland co-produced the award winning feature film The First of May, starring Julie Harris, Dan Bird, Mickey Rooney, Charles Nelson Reilly, Gerard Christopher, Tom Nowicki, and baseball legend Joe DiMaggio in a cameo role. The movie was distributed to foreign theatrical markets, then HBO worldwide, and DVD. Mr. Haviland was also its Location Manager. (www.FirstOfMay.com).

Mr. Haviland studied writing under Terry Brooks, Ben Bova, John Saul, Dorothy Allison, and Lawrence Montaigne.
