Born in Compton and an alumni of the famous Los Angeles County High School for the Arts where he was a dance major, Courtney received his first break while a senior in high school, where he was chosen out of 400 dancers to dance in Michael Jackson's "Remember the Time" music video. He turned that opportunity into a career as a choreographer working with such artists as Prince, Britney Spears, and Beyonce. After retiring from dance he attended film school where he wrote and directed his award-winning hip-hop musical short film "Repairations". Now working full-time as a writer/director, in 2021 Courtney wrapped as Season 2 Director for the series, "Games People Play" on BET along with the film "Twisted House Sitter" for MarVista Entertainment. He also directed all 8 episodes for Season 5 of the series "Saints & Sinners" and the made-for-television movie "Saints & Sinners: Judgment Day". He recently wrapped directing eight episodes of the upcoming bible-based series "Covenant" for the AllBlk network, and has several movies and television series in various stages of development.
