Biography

Dale is a screenwriter born in Johannesburg, South Africa, to a British dad and Zambian mom. He studied creative copywriting in Cape Town and got his first advertising gig at Ogilvy, playing it straight until his mid-twenties when he found himself (literally and figuratively) living proudly in London. 

Dale’s journey into screenwriting began with a boutique course run by Matt Kalil (author of The Three Wells of Screenwriting), followed by the advanced Screenwriting Goldmine Tribe held in London over 6 months, plus workshops with Philip Shelley (runner of Channel 4’s screenwriting course) and John Yorke (author of Into the Woods and head of BBC Writers’ Academy). He’s also been mentored by top American story consultant, Jen Grisanti, on a few of his projects. 

Dale loves creating fresh, provocative, somewhat edgy stories that question the status quo. Probably cos he's a happy member of the rainbow community, giving minorities a voice in his scripts. Dale’s a recent Page Silver winner, holds an 8 on the Black List, is a Stowe Story Lab alumnus and an ISA Top 25 Screenwriter to Watch. His years hiding in the closet, leading a double life, gave him plenty of fuel to write his latest award-winning comedy pilot, "Sausage 'n Sushi”.
