Denis Mortenson is an award-winning published fiction author, and screenwriter. His screenplays have placed in many contests, including Slamdance, Scriptapalooza, Cinequest, Bluecat, WeScreenplay, Byron Bay, and Honolulu Film Awards. Recent awards include being a semifinalist in the 2019 Los Angeles International Screenplay Awards and the 2020 Capital Fund Contest, and finalist nominee in the 2021 Paris Film Festival. His fiction has been published online, and in anthologies. Two of his short stories were quarterfinalists in the 2016 Book Pipeline contest. In 2010 he conceived, filmed, and directed "Ama in America," a pilot for a TV sitcom starring a Liberian girl named Ama, who was adopted by a white family. He worked as a Creative Director with advertising agencies. He is an illustrator and ASCAP songwriter. While in college he co-created an animated title sequence for Jimmy the Kid, a feature film which starred Don Adams, Ruth Gordon, and Gary Coleman.
