I was born and raised in Southern California. My family - the parents, grandparents and aunties - immigrated to the U.S. from Kabul, Afghanistan during the Soviet Invasion. I studied screenwriting at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, whereupon graduating I received the 2014 Michael Collyer Memorial Fellowship in Screenwriting for a proposed script about the L.A. Riots. The finished product would later win first place in The American Zoetrope screenwriting contest as well as the ISA Fast Track Fellowship. In the last three years I've expanded my writing to the world of sci-fi and fantasy. Most recently I penned an episode for Joss Whedon's upcoming HBO series, "The Nevers," which centers on a group of women in Victorian London who discover they have supernatural abilities. I am currently working on a series of fantasy novels for a small publishing company in Canada that involves dragons, warrior monks, and some very light time travel. I gravitate toward stories that are character-driven and research-heavy.
