San Francisco writer, enrolled member of the Cherokee Nation, and dual U.S./French citizen, Kathryn Machi, MFA Fiction and Screenwriting (awarded Women’s and Native American Scholarships) helms ViviLu Productions where she creates upbeat, feminist, and culturally diverse stories for international audiences ages 10 to 110. FIREBIRD was selected for the 2020 Inaugural Black List, IllumiNative, and Sundance Institute Indigenous List, “a curated list highlighting talented Indigenous storytellers in film and television writing the type of stories that the Indigenous community feels will both entertain audiences and impact hearts and minds around the world.” Kathryn’s feature screenplays and TV series were developed via Sundance Co//ab; The Black List; IllumiNative, the California Film Institute; Nuit Blanche Productions in Montreal, and Cherokee Nation culture bearers.
