Mark Robertson

Screenwriter

Biography

MARK ROBERTSON is an established and prolific writer on many UK TV series, including SHAUN THE SHEEP and CHOP-SOCKY CHOOKS (Aardman Animation); DENNIS AND GNASHER (BBC/Red Kite); and MY SPY FAMILY (Cartoon Network/Kindle).

More recently, Mark branched out into writing screenplays, and was subsequently awarded a place on the UK’s Guiding Lights mentoring scheme. During the scheme he was mentored by Sir Kenneth Branagh on THE WOODCUTTER, a dark, fairytale-themed horror screenplay. The script has since been shortlisted in several screenwriting competitions and was awarded a runner-up place in the horror/thriller category of the Screenplay Festival Competition.

Soon after, Mark secured a further place on the Edinburgh Film Festival’s Talent Lab training scheme, during which a superhero comedy pitch of his called OVERPOWERED won two out of three of the scheme’s pitching awards, including the Audience Choice Award. That project has since attracted script development funding from UK arts organisation Creative Scotland, and more recently still has benefited from the attachment of a high-profile Oscar-winning writer/director as Story Consultant.

Among the projects Mark is currently developing are CHARLES DICKENS’S GHOST CLUB – a supernatural action-adventure TV series which took third place in the Screencraft Pilot Launch Competition, as well as a top ten place in the Final Draft Big Break Screenwriting Contest; and CANNONBALL EXPRESS - a sci-fi TV pilot that has been designed from the ground up as an expandable, franchisable story-world that can spill out into multiple media, and spawn numerous spin-offs.
