MELINDA HICKS is an Atlanta-based feature film screenwriter. Her brand is Moms With Moxie, characters who are pushed out of their comfort zones to break the mom mold and release their badassness onto the world.
Melinda has received numerous semi and finalist awards in competitions such as the Screencraft Screenwriting Fellowship, Filmmatic Comedy Screenplay Awards and StoryPros International Screenplay Contest. Her Rom Com, All The Way Happy, is Top 3% Coverfly overall. In a prior TV career, she won multiple local Emmy’s and international promo marketing awards for her work as a Promotion Writer/Producer. She is also a published short story author.
In addition to screenwriting, Melinda uses her skills as a script editor to teach up-and-coming student filmmakers how to improve their short films. She also writes reels for local actors which are shot and produced by an Atlanta actor/director. Currently, Melinda is working with local talent on the development of several short film projects and is penning a dystopian YA novel that’s been kicking around in her brain.
Melinda is a wife, a mother to an award-winning student filmmaker, and a host to many stray animals. She’s a hiking, biking, nature-loving kind of woman who even rescues insects that wander into her home. She draws the line at saving cockroaches, though. They can suck it.
