Named one of the International Screenwriters’ Association’s ‘Top 25 Screenwriters to Watch’, Oliver Warren is an award-winning queer British-born writer-director with a rich heritage in storytelling and an obsession with humankind and her follies.
Oliver’s introduction to filmmaking began with a master’s degree in Documentary Production, when his graduate film FAG HAGS (2001) was broadcast on ITV in the UK, while he was drawn into the world of Fashion during the ‘fashion film’ explosion of 2008.
Much of his commercial work draws upon both his documentary storytelling skills, and his fashion aesthetic, bringing them together for major brands and publications including Dior, Vogue, Coach, Ferragamo, Netflix and Nike.
However, working within the fiction arena has been Oliver’s goal since he was a young sci-fi obsessed kid, and realising his first short film in 2015, the multi-award winning CUSP, was a dream come true. Now 2024 sees the release of his brand new short film WE / US—itself a proof of concept for a feature project.
He has multiple TV and feature scripts in development with producers across the world.
Oliver has lived and worked in both the US and UK, and currently splits his time between both, producing scripts and films that speak both locally, and internationally.
As a queer filmmaker, Oliver leans greatly into projects that celebrate diversity and inclusion, not just within the LGBTQIA+ community, but any underrepresented parts of society, shining a spotlight on those who are taking control of their circumstance and finding the place in the world that they were meant for.
Oliver is actively looking to collaborate with producers, directors and brands seeking to tell innovative, emotional stories.
