Rainy Kerwin is the award-winning, writer-director in the feature film, “The Wedding Invitation,” distributed by Freestyle Releasing and currently streaming on Amazon Prime. The film premiered on the festival circuit to packed houses at the Palm Beach International Film Festival. On its festival tour, the film racked up six wins and two nominations, including Best Feature Film, Best Comedy, Best Screenplay, Best Actress and winner Award of Excellence, special mention. Her next feature, “Death Row Baden” is a dark psychological thriller.
Rainy is an actors’ director and loves working with talent. She honed her directing skills during eight years on staff at LA’s largest acting conservatory, The Playground. She’s coached and directed over 1000 actors in both comedy and drama. Performance is paramount to Rainy. Through the lens, she captures rich frames, allowing her set locations and production design to play a character in her films.
Rainy grew up on the icy prairies of Winnipeg, Manitoba playing hockey. At the age of eighteen, she got on a bus and four days later was in LA. She originally moved to Hollywood as an actor, but quickly found that her true love was storytelling. Rainy has both US and Canadian citizenship.
Rainy is the founder of It’s Raining Films. She’s a proud member of the Film Fatales and the Alliance of Women Directors. She also mentors up-and-coming filmmakers, and is a huge advocate for advancing female creatives. “The Wedding Invitation” is the first ever feature shot with an all-female crew.
