I am a screenwriter with 7 years of working in the industry on the creative advertising side. I was a Tracking B Finalist and the winner of the Los Angeles International Screenplay Award, both in 2024. I am thrilled to be in the 2025 ISA Development Slate.
Born in Los Angeles, I grew up a bona fide valleygirl until my family suddenly moved us to a small town in Minnesota where I discovered that it actually does get cold enough for your hair to break off. I survived mostly intact and went on to get my BFA in Film with an emphasis in Screenwriting from the Minneapolis College of Art + Design.
This time in my life was marked by a series of madcap survival jobs that I now draw from all the time: group home manager for disabled adults, middle school writing teacher, Hooters waitress, funeral home assistant, art director for a kink dungeon. I moved to New York City where I worked for a few comedy clubs and stumbled into my first ad agency job.
I came back home to Los Angeles in 2010 where I worked as a comedy agent’s assistant. Going out scouting new talent night after night was the perfect education in what makes funny writing work. I was the first copywriter hire for Dollar Shave Club where I wrote hilariously weird product and web copy, radio spots, and TV commercials.
Since 2017, I’ve worked as a creative copywriter for an agency specializing in film and TV projects. Reading scripts, brainstorming aesthetics, and writing commercial spots has been a dream.
A career highlight was writing for the Clios Entertainment award-winning national campaign for The Grinch for Universal Pictures. Somehow, they signed off on a crazy idea for site-specific billboards in the voice of the Grinch, making fun of the people in the environment. The Grinch told LA commuters they’d never make it to their audition. He sneered that he loved watching you make that seven-point turn on San Vincente and Fairfax. He told tourists he was ruining their selfies in Times Square. As the Grinch, I learned that Chicago will clap back hard about their city “always coming in second.”
Seeing my commercial scripts come to life has been a true joy. I wrote the “Get Your Cut” piece for Frank Oz for Knives Out and the “All Aboard” piece for Death and Other Details with Mandy Patinkin. I wrote the teaser trailer spot for the first season of Mythic Quest, putting Rob McElhenney flying over volcanoes on a giant bird.
As much as I love where I’m at, I want to keep moving forward. My ultimate goal is to transition from creative copywriting into screenwriting for film and TV.
On a personal level, I have been deeply influenced by LGBTQA+ issues and alternative relationship structures. I also have a lifelong interest in my Jewish identity, although I suspect I hold a record for failed attempts to learn to read Hebrew.
I currently live and work from my home in the San Fernando Valley under the supervision of a highly demanding Miniature Pinscher.
