When I was a young boy, I was inspired and dreamt of being a comedian in likes of Tom Hanks and Chevy Chase. In my teens that of course changed after watching films such as Clerks, Reservoir Dogs, and El Mariachi. I learned from these films no matter the budget; character and emotion are above all. During the following years, I wrote several screenplays, by my fourth screenplay I felt like I had accomplished my goal of writing one good script. Many years later after raising a family, at the age of 38 I found my own brand of comedy by performing and writing characters, song parodies, and producing events and slideshows which were posted on social media to coincide. This was a time-period I learned much not only about myself but about others and life in general. While I had everyone’s attention, I took this opportunity to close with comments about all I was learning which inspired many.
Unfortunately, I know the heartbreak of how is to is to give up something you loved to do to, to mature, and to save what is most precious. At the age of forty I changed direction from being the most popular guy in the room to save my own personal relationship which inspired my first screenplay “Living in the Moments”. It was time to take my own brand of humor, build on the storytelling I had written for nearly 150 slideshows, and all I had learned including what was already stated in those many closing comments. In a way I had found my voice during, and now it was time to learn how to translate all of it to film. During this time-period I was inspired by many, but I was deeply inspired by many who had passed away which inspired Alice’s journey in my second screenplay “All Souls Day” which has drawn interest.
Indeed, I lost precious time with my closest due to my own journey of self-discovery. I lost in touch with close friendships and family while performing comedy. I also lost time with newer friendships and family while chasing my dream of screenwriting which inspired my third screenplay “McLucky’s St. Paddy’s Day Bar Crawl”. Inner circles of friends and family who we spend free time do change over the years, no matter. Not only circles change but people do as well which inspired my fourth screenplay “Solstice”. Since, I have earned 163 screenplay writing accolades and repaired our marriage which strengthened our immediate family.
During this most recent pandemic I found much time to write and have been most successful. Also, as husband and wife we also enjoyed walking trails all over our home state as we have had the world to ourselves due to COVID and peeled many layers back to build a stronger relationship. We have always believed there is more, good than bad, and more beauty than destruction in this world which inspired my fifth screenplay “Harper High”. We know this for a fact because as hosts for years we have seen the good in people as we traveled from one place to another and have enjoyed the many beauties this world has to offer. Harper High is now in development with Orenda Entertainment.
My dream is to find balance in life and to tell diverse stories with my own distinct voice to an industry in desperate need of a revamp. I not only write from love, life hard learned lessons, and my own personal pain but most importantly I write about from what once was and hopefully one day will be again.
