Stephen Siegel

Screenwriter

Biography

Stephen Siegel has a Master’s Degree in Dramatic Writing from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, where he also taught Screenwriting and Television Writing for nine years.  He is a lifetime member of the Writers’ Guild of America. His screenplay, “The Man Who Killed Sherlock Holmes,” was personally optioned by actor Sean Connery, with whom he worked on revisions.  It won First Place in the Action/Adventure category of FADE IN magazine’s annual screenwriting contest and was a recent finalist in the WeScreenplay competition. Stephen co-wrote a miniseries for CBS titled "Guilty Hearts," which starred Marcia Gay Harden, Treat Williams and Olympia Dukakis; it is now broadcast regularly on the Lifetime network.  He was hired by producer Dawn Steel to write the screenplay “Dunleavy,” about maverick newspaper and TV reporter Steve Dunleavy.  He was also hired by producer Dick Clark to develop a modern screen adaptation of the classic novel Little Lord Fauntleroy.  His agents have included UTA’s Jeremy Zimmer, Risa Gertner and (now producer) Marty Bowen.
