Suzanne Birrell

Actor | Director | Screenwriter

Biography

Suzanne Birrell is a writer and performer with a knack for telling relatable, engaging stories inspired by her small-town upbringing and her grandparents' diverse cultural heritage. As the only girl in a house full of brothers, Suzanne learned early on to observe people and develop a sharp sense of humor—qualities that shine through in her work.

She studied scriptwriting at Webster University and Fullerton College, but it’s her life experiences that give her stories their unique edge. From being a protected witness in a murder trial involving a serial killer to touring as a bass player and managing productions in Marin County theater, Suzanne brings a wealth of real-life depth to her writing.

Currently, she teaches middle school, a job that offers plenty of inspiration thanks to the unpredictable energy of teenagers. She also plays bass in a country band, finding creative ideas in the everyday moments of life.

Suzanne’s scripts focus on strong, dynamic women who tackle life’s challenges head-on. Growing up in a time when women were often expected to stick to traditional roles, she understands the value of stories that celebrate independence, resilience, and personal growth. With a straightforward style and characters audiences can root for, Suzanne Birrell creates stories that entertain, inspire, and connect with people on a deeply human level.
