Suzanne Birrell is a writer and performer with a knack for telling relatable, character-driven stories inspired by her small-town upbringing and culturally diverse heritage. The only girl in a house full of brothers, she learned early on to observe people, sharpen her wit, and read the room—a skill that shows up in every scene she writes.
She studied scriptwriting at Webster University and Fullerton College, but it’s her life experience that gives her work its distinct emotional weight. From touring as a bass player and managing a Marin County theatre to being a protected witness in a murder trial involving a serial killer, Suzanne brings layered authenticity and unexpected depth to her writing.
She currently teaches middle school theatre and band—an ongoing masterclass in unpredictable human behavior—and still plays bass in a country band. Whether in the classroom or on stage, she finds story inspiration in life’s daily surprises.
Suzanne’s screenplays feature strong, complex women facing transformative challenges—stories that reflect her own journey and speak to the courage it takes to break expectations. With humor, heart, and a voice that connects across generations, her scripts entertain and resonate in equal measure.
