Valerie spent her first six years of life in Chicago, until her parents uprooted her to a small Oklahoma ranch without her permission. She eventually made her way to Los Angeles to work as a game designer and digital artist, where she made the terrifying realization that she wanted to be a screenwriter when she grew up. She has been writing ever since.
She's a UCLA Diane Thomas Award Winner and Top Ten Finalist, Page Finalist and Semi-Finalist, Nicholl Quarterfinalist, and Austin Film Festival Quarterfinalist. Her first produced film, the crime thriller “The Assassin's Code,” premiered to sold-out crowds at the 42nd Annual Cleveland International Film Festival in April 2018, with its theatrical/VOD release in May.
Her stories explore people’s desires, flaws, and core wounds; and how their situation, however unusual or ridiculous, leads them to self-acceptance and coming to peace with their demons. If their journey is entertaining along the way, all the better.
