Lisa Garvey writes about outsiders trying to find their place in the world, which usually involves the character going down an absurd rabbit hole. As an outsider herself with an outsized imagination, she gravitates toward genre stories using dark humor that are thought-provoking, yet quirky and fun.

In 2020 Lisa was hired as an additional writer to rewrite Double Eye Productions’ FINDING PANDORA X, a live, interactive virtual reality theater performance that won Best VR Immersive User Experience at the 2020 Venice International Film Festival and the Audience Award/Virtual Cinema Spotlight at the 2021 SXSW Film Festival.

Lisa is currently working on an upper middle-grade speculative novel, which won an Independent Author Fellowship in 2019. Her novella, THE STREET ENTERS THE HOUSE, is a finalist for the 2020 Sandy Run Novella Award under the pen name Ellis Cube. Most recently her screenplay, THE GRADUAL DETERIORATION OF WALTER TWIG, placed in the top 2% of the 2020 Austin Film Festival Screenwriting Competition in four categories: Comedy, Horror, Sci-Fi, and the Enderby Entertainment Award. It also has a script recommend from Script Pipeline and is in the top 5% of discoverable projects on Coverfly. THE PRINCESS OF DARKNESS placed in the Second Round of Austin in both the Drama and Comedy pilot categories.

Lisa has an MFA in Cinematic Arts from the University of Southern California and a BFA from the University of Puget Sound in Studio Art and Art History.
