JEAN PESCE WORKED IN NEW YORK FILM PRODUCTION AS A LOCATION MANAGER BEFORE ATTENDING NYU WHERE SHE RECEIVED HER MFA IN SCREENWRITING AND FILM DIRECTING.

Jean Pesce is in pre-production on her directorial debut, a dark comedy called Cuttlefish, with Powderkeg Media and Paul Feig producing. Her original screenplay was selected for the Black List’s Feature Writers Lab, was a Finalist in the Austin Film Festival Screenwriting Competition, and was the winner of the Richard Vague Production Fund.

Jean co-wrote her first episode of television for the UCP/USA/Amblin series, Brave New World. Jean's NYU thesis film, a dark comedy called So You Like the Neighborhood had its World Premiere in April 2018 at the Tribeca Film Festival. It was officially shortlisted for the 2018 BAFTA Student Film Awards, was the Winner of the 2018 National Board of Review Student Grant Program, was the 2nd Prize Wasserman Winner at NYU's First Run Film Festival, and was the winner of the Audience Choice Award at the Santa Fe Independent Film Festival. It stars two-time Tony Nominee and star of Epix's "Get Shorty" as well as Showtime's "Billions," Sarah Stiles.

Jean’s pre-thesis film at NYU, Mr. Lamb, was selected to air on PBS as part of KQED's Film School Shorts program. It played at over twenty film festivals all over the world and won the Audience Choice Award at the 2013 Williamsburg Independent Film Festival. Her next short, Queso Flameado, was in competition for the Grand Jury Prize at the Dallas International Film Festival in the Shorts Program and was picked up for distribution by both IndieFlix and Brooklyn on Demand. While a film student at Bard College, Jean directed two films: a feature length mockumentary called The Bard Space Program and dark comedy/drama called The Foibles.

While living in New York, Jean was in a Brooklyn-based punk band called The Jean Geraldines, in which she sang and played guitar. A native of San Francisco, Jean currently lives in Los Angeles with her rescue dog, a Brussels Griffon named Henry. Most notably, Jean was voted “Most Enthusiastic” in the Third Grade, and she has the t-shirt with felt lettering to prove it.
