Okay, you got the meeting… now what? Join Nickelodeon Executives and Nick Writing Program Alumni for a conversation about how to make the most out of a “general meeting” – We’ll discuss what to expect, what to talk about, and how to spin meetings into future job opportunities. Presented by the Nick Writing Program.

Panelists:
Linda Halder - Director of Live-Action Development at Nickelodeon
Born in Hollywood, CA, Linda Halder is one of the rare native Californians in the Entertainment Industry. Linda graduated from Cal State, Los Angeles, and later mastered the art of walking backwards in high heels as an NBC Page. She worked in NBC Publicity and Talent Relations for years before continuing to battle the mean streets of Burbank working for Warner Bros, Fremantle Media, Disney Channel, and finally landing at Nickelodeon where she’s finally able to let her passion for changing the world through kids storytelling shine. In her free time, Linda enjoys sewing, being the coolest aunt in the world to triplets, as well as referring to herself in the third person.

In addition to his duties in development, he also is the current series Executive in Charge of Production (EIC) on both Big Nate and Max and the Midknights.

May Chan - Writer/Producer
Born and raised in LA, May Chan is the off-spring of two Chinese immigrants who SWAM from China to Hong Kong to escape the Cultural Revolution. Yes, swam. Through shark-infested waters. So they can come to the U.S. to live the American Dream and give their kids opportunities they couldn't have. Which apparently includes becoming a TV writer. May currently serves as Executive Producer/Showrunner for AppleTV+'s new live-action series SURFSIDE GIRLS. She is also writing the new American Girl movie, CORINNE TAN, for HBO Max which is based on American Girl’s first Chinese-American doll.
Prior to that, she worked as a Co-EP on THE ASTRONAUTS for Imagine Television and Nickelodeon. Amazon Studios shot her original live-action pilot TABLE 58, which earned rave reviews from the LA Times. May has also written on animated action-packed shows from VOLTRON to AVATAR:THE LAST AIRBENDER to the nostalgic quirk of Netflix's reboot of CARMEN SANDIEGO voiced by Gina Rodriguez — where May served as the #2 on the show.
Simultaneously, she won a WGA Award for writing a MOW for Amazon called An American Girl Story: Ivy & Julie which is based on another American Girl character. She was also nominated for a Humanitas, an NAACP for Outstanding Writing in a Television Movie, and 4 Daytime Emmys for this movie. In her spare time, she loves to watch Kpop dance videos with her husband
and two kids.
