International Screenwriters' Association 2 years ago

Yolanda T. Ross (https://www.networkisa.org/profile/yolanda-t-ross) is an award-winning multihyphenate and socially driven Actress, Writer, and Producer. After earning an MFA in Creative Writing from Full Sail University, she launched her professional writing career after seeing the lack of diversity in female-driven stories (especially women of color) in film and television. She went on to win several awards for her shorts, The Last Day and Victus. Her short, Drowning placed in the top 10 of the 2020 Pan African Film Festival's John Singleton Short Screenplay Contest.

In addition, her screenplay, Her Favorite Color, placed in the top 25 for the Ermantourage Industry Next II Diversity Competition and was a quarter-finalist for the 1st Annual Stage 32 Drama Screenplay Contest and a semi-finalist for the Filmmatics Drama Screenplay contest. She recently developed a TV pilot titled We Are Here that focuses on the subject of Human Trafficking from Slavery through the present day which landed her on the development slate for the International Screenwriter's Association and was recently selected for COVERFLY'S 2021 Pitch week where she pitched the show to a major network, and the pilot also placed as a top 10 finalist in the Ermantourage Industry Next 6 competition.

As a writer, Yolanda believes in the power of producing and telling stories that deal with social issues affecting our world; especially, the African American community. She is also known for her recurring role on the hit CW TV Show, Black Lightning where she plays the mother of Khalil Payne (a.k.a. Painkiller), and you can catch her on the upcoming new AMC AllBlk hit television show Lace.
