Join ISA's Creative Executive, Shayna Weber, as she talks with Kaia Alexander, founder of the Entertainment Business School and former development exec, about finding and working with a mentor. It is so important to have people in your corner in this industry, and Kaia Alexander had amazing mentors in Tom Robbins and Garry Shandling. We will also talk with one of Kaia's mentees, Kawan Glover. They will discuss:

Kaia Alexander is the CEO/founder of the Entertainment Business School, and host of the Hollywood Wolfpack podcast. She was a development executive on many feature films including JUST FRIENDS (with Ryan Reynolds), PEACEFUL WARRIOR (with Nick Nolte), THE GOOD NIGHT (Gwyneth Paltrow & Penelope Cruz), and HACHI: A DOG’S TALE (with Richard Gere). She was mentored by comedian Garry Shandling. A lifelong history nerd, she’s an award-winning novelist for her book about the burning of the Great Library of Alexandria, Written in the Ashes (Harper Collins). As a writer/producer brand is badass, adventurous women. She’s a passionate advocate for New Hollywood diversity, parity and inclusion. Kawan Glover, Chief of Business Development for the Entertainment Business School, is a survivor because he has lived through a stroke and three brain surgeries. Despite these hardships, he started his own company, Overcome Adversity, LLC. He is a Victory coach, public speaker, screenwriter, and author of a memoir bestselling entitled “Favor”. He has a B.S in Finance from the University of Maryland, College Park and is a repped writer.

Shayna Weber is a screenwriter and producer originally from Bend, Oregon. She started out her professional career assisting in casting for music videos and talent management before beginning a 15-year career as a producer in unscripted television. Her roster of shows includes: “So You Think You Can Dance,” “RuPaul’s Drag Race,” “Weakest Link,” VH1’s “Band’s Reunited,” “Brew Dogs,” “She’s Got The Look,” Disney’s “Code 9,” and the Miss Universe Pageants. Shayna is also producer on the award- winning, horror/comedy, Lunch Ladies, and then directed its follow up, A Very Important Film, both of which have received distribution. Shayna and her partner, Clarissa Jacobson, under their Rebel Minx banner, are in post-production of a short film they directed titled Butts, which follows a day in the life of their 3’11” friend Kent who lives with brittle bone disease and his POV is looking at butts all day. They also recently sold a horror feature script to be filmed in Europe this fall.
