Bite Size Oscar History: The History of Horror at the Oscars

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences rarely acknowledges horror. Only a handful of horror films have been nominated for Best Picture. The Exorcist (1973) and Jaws (1975) are a couple of films in this exclusive club.

However, this year Coralie Fargeat's body horror flick The Substance got a nod from the Academy for Best Picture, as well as receiving four other nominations, including Best Actress for Demi Moore. The film showcases Demi Moore's acting chops and reminds us what a special talent she is. She's the antithesis of her character in The Substance and proves age is just a number.
