Seeking Features and Pilots Adapted From Existing IP

Posted:
Feb. 12, 2025

The ISA is seeking feature and pilot screenplays based on existing intellectual property. This includes adaptations of published novels, new narratives based on public domain works, and historical and biographical projects.

The ideal screenplay is able to convert an existing narrative such that it takes full advantage of the feature or television format. If someone did not know the source material, they would assume the project was always a screenplay.

Please clarify any connection to the intellectual property in your synopsis. This can include your writing the source material, having obtained the rights, or some other arrangement.

Writers are encouraged to submit any adapted project, but some ideal comps include: It Ends With Us, Band of Brothers, The Wolf of Wall Street, Wicked, and Dune.

Want to have more success with Gigs? Here are some tips from our ISA Executives:

Successful loglines can convey a great deal of information in only one or two sentences. This includes:
A distinct main character that promises a strong emotional arc.
A clear concept and insight into how it will develop in the second act.
An understanding of how your unique character and clever concept are synergizing with one another.
An implicit tone for the project overall.

If you are struggling to encapsulate these elements into a concise logline, then we recommend an ISA Logline Review.

All forms of ISA Feedback can help your screenplay succeed in the competitive Writing Gigs environment. A writer with a track record of steadily improving their portfolio is highly appealing to industry professionals.

A variety of feedback forms can be found via our Script Notes Services.
